On February 1, 2019, Dubai-based Flydubai marked its inaugural flight to Kozhikode in Kerala.

Flights three times a week will be provided by the airline which will be connecting Dubai International (DXB) to Kozhikode Calicut International Airport (CCJ). With the inauguration of Flydubai, the airline will be offering 30 weekly flights to and from Dubai to eight destinations in India.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at Flydubai says,  “As the first Dubai-based carrier to operate direct flights from Dubai to Kozhikode, we expect this route to be very popular for travelers from the UAE to the region. Similarly, passengers from Kozhikode now have easier access to popular destinations on the Flydubai network as well as the Emirates network providing easy access to more destinations when visiting family and friends,” on the day of launching.

Business Class services will be available on this route along with comfortable seats, faster check-in and priority ground services. Economy Class passengers may choose according to their needs bundled (Flex/Value) or unbundled (Lite) fares.

In 2010 Flydubai started the mission by handling direct flights to Lucknow but now the airline has increased its network including Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad,  Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow and Mumbai.

Kozhikode was known as Calicut. It is a trade center which is mostly known for its spices and hand-woven cotton cloth. The city is located between the Arabian Sea and the Wayanad Hills.

The Emirates Flydubai partnership announced in 2017. As a part of it, Emirates will codeshare on this route. If the passengers of Emirates make the booking under the codeshare they will be provided complimentary meals along with Emirates checked baggage allowance on flights. Travelers from India also will be benefited by the codeshare as they will have access to travel to hundreds of destinations all over the world via Dubai.
