Four crew members lost their lives after rescuing helicopter collapsed into Ras AL Khaimah’s Jebel Jais mountain, Khaleej Times has learnt. It strikes a zip line before collapsing and bursting into flames.
The three Emiratis have been recognized as onboard:
-Hailing from AL Salehia area in Ras AL Khaimah Pilot Hameed Mohamed Obaid AL Zaabi was directing the rescue team.
– Navigator Jasim Abdullah Ali Tunaiji.
-Flight Paramedic Mark Roxburgh – A South African national.
Spectators said the tragic adversity happened around 6.30 pm on Saturday.
The spectator, Salam Naif told, “The chopper went into a spin all of a sudden and then crashed into the mountain. It burst into a ball of fire ”.
Police resources have ensured the tragic adversity. They said, “ More details will be announced shortly”.
The RAK Development Authority of Tourism Department said zip line visitors were safe. It claimed, “The tragic chopper collision took place 50 minutes after the closure of the zip line ”.
Officials are evaluating if any of the zip lines have been wrecked as an outcome of the accident. The Highest mountain Jebel Jais in the UAE is home to the longest zip line of the world.
