On Sunday night, a minor fire erupted at Gevora Hotel, the world’s tallest hotel, on Shaikh Zayed Road. Dubai Police tweeted on their official twitter handle that three people suffered minor injuries due to smoke. The fire erupted because of an electrical issue in the sauna room, they added.
The reporters were informed by a Dubai Civil Defence spokesperson that the fire started at around 7.40pm at the ceiling of one of the saunas in the hotel. He also said that fire was extinguished immediately and the hotel guests were evacuated.
Firefighters from Al Etihad Fire station immediately reached the spot along with other emergency responders who cordoned off the 1,168-feet hotel.
For safety measures, the road outside of the hotel was closed to cars. A receptionist of the hotel told the reporters, “There was a fire but no one was harmed. People were evacuated immediately.” The tallest hotel in the world possesses 528 deluxe rooms and suites, five dining experiences, fully equipped club, a main pool deck with luxurious facilities.
