Sharjah will arrange its second Labour Sports Festival from December 28th till March 31st in a tender for promoting healthy schemes among the blue-collared workers in the emirate. The three-month sports festival is being arranged by the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authorization. More than 60 teams will take part in the festival, which will have football, volleyball, hockey, crickets, basketball championships.

The matches will be organized at Sharjah National Park every Friday, in the morning from 8 am to 11 am, and in the evening from 3 pm to 6 pm.

More than 1,000 workers are assumed to participate in the event, while the number of teams made registration for football and basketball championships arrived 25 every, for cricket 35 teams registered, 12 for volleyball and 18 for hockey. Teams can list till 25th December.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Labour Standard Development Authority, Salem AL Qaseer told a press conference that the festival will be organized collaboratively with Sharjah Sports Council and the BB Sports Service under the theme of ‘Bringing Happiness to Sharjah’s Labourers’.

AL Qaseer said, “We are very pleased with the success witnessed in the first edition of the Labour Sports Festival, and are confident that the next edition will be equally good. We encourage all nationalities that make up the segments of labourers residing in Sharjah, to participate in this festival, which will serve as a bridge to increase cooperation, whilst deepening cooperation between labourers and employers, making them more transparent”.

Activities and Games for the families and children will also be organized during the championships.
