The Lebanese woman Rita was provided with a new home in a new building equipped with an elevator to allow her to move around. Her dream of determination came true.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, made this possible.
The 30 years old paraplegic Rita expressed her extreme joy and pleasure. “It is a beautiful home.. I cannot believe it. Thanks to Shaikh Mohammad and the UAE,” she said.
Her tragic story was showed before one month ago on MTV which is a leading independent media station in Lebanon. In the show, she appealed for help.
Rita lives with her old father. They were threatened to throw out from their apartment because they had not been able to pay the rent for several months.
The woman was told the good news about moving to a new home by Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Lebanon. The apartment is fully furnished with all the facilities Rita needs.
Al Shamsi said Shaikh Mohammad’s gesture aligns with the spirit of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and conveys the UAE’s message of good. She was also invited by the Ambassador to attend the games, which will take place in Abu Dhabi from March 14-21.
