A worker was accused to molest a female tourist in a lift as she was heading to a yoga class. On Thursday, the case was heard by a Dubai Court of First Instance and the court gave judgment of six months sentence to the accused.
The victim was a 35-year-old British tourist who told the court that the incident happened with her in last years’ November when she came to Dubai to visit her husband in Bur Dubai. She told that she was in a lift and was going to the gym on the 37th floor of a building in Bur Dubai. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old Indian man came into the lift and stood close to her. Making strange noises the man followed her though she tried to move away from him. The man stepped out on the 34th floor and she went on the 37th floor, complaining about the incident to security.
Police started the investigating after the lady had lodged a complaint of sexual assault against the accused. The police checked the CCTV footage of the lift and were successful to identify the man. After being detained he was questioned by the police when he told that he could not control himself but he has denied the charge of sexual assault in court. The verdict will be subject to appeal.
