On Tuesday, Dubai Court of Appeal upheld a verdict against a man who forcefully entered into a woman’s room and attempted to rape her. The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 46-year-old Indian man for six months in jail followed by deploration.

Prosecutors appealed for harder punishment but the appeals court upheld the man’s initial jail term. As per officials records, the 32-year-old Indian woman found the accused in her bed after she woke up after midnight in July of last year in Bur Dubai. According to the victim’s statement, she found her naked and the man attempted to rape her. When she tried to escape he dragged her back to the bed and ripped off her clothes. However, the woman managed to escape for the second time by kicking him and rushed outside the house to call her husband.

The husband of the woman stated to the police that, “The man used to teach me driving.”  He further asserted in court, “He arrived at my doorstep and offered me driving practice in his car. I took the car and left, but I didn’t think he would try to abuse my wife.”

Meanwhile, the defendant has denied raping the woman.
