Motorists who did not commits traffic offences for around six months will get the option to seek 50 percent discount on car confiscation fees and accumulated traffic fines, thanks to the new initiative undertaken by Ajman Police.

The decision has been made following an injunction from  Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Executive Council, and Crown Prince of Ajman.

On Monday, while addressing a press release in Ajman, Major General Shaikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police has announced the initiative to mark ‘Year of Tolerance’, will insist motorists drive with more responsibility.

He continued that “the 50 percent discount will cover all traffic violations existing in a motorist’s traffic file [committed in the emirate during 2018 and all previous years].”

To qualify to enjoy 50 percent discount, motorists shouldn’t have committed any offense for 6 months and above between January 1 to June 1, 2019. The discount will be provided by the Traffic Department in July.

Major General Al Nuaimi said that “the discount will apply to the seizure of vehicles and traffic points too, It will cover both individuals and companies. The offer will remain until the end of the year, after which it will be assessed and extended if needed.”

During the discount period, payment of fines can be done only through the Ministry of Interior or Ajman Police, added Al-Nuaimi.
